My Toolbox – The 14 Best Social Media Tools for your « Hotel » Community Manager

As a savvy hotelier, you can develop a link network and benefit from creating consumer awareness of your Hotel on Social Networks and Consumer Reviews.

With the increasing number of Social Networks, people are spending their time online differently. Today it’s about conversations—interactions that go beyond the one-on-one to one-to-many through a series of social networks relationships that connect Hotels to customers, places, and events like never before.

To avoid being left behind, hotels need to consider being on the sites where consumers now spend their online hours.

The challenge is to understand these evolving channels and how they can be used to reach new markets. It’s why in one of my former post I explained why hotels need a Community Manager in order to manage their E-Reputation and their Social Networks, This professional has an unknown function of many hoteliers who have yet to appeal to interest him, especially the independent 3, 4 and 5 star hotels, hotels affiliated with large chains often benefit from a management of their online reputation by their network.

But even if you are working in another business the rule is the same. You do remember that being on Social Media is an engagement, to create a Twitter, a Facebook or a Google + Account just to get one, there is no interest. If you create an account on any Social Networks you must be sure you get ressources to manage it, Social Media is a long journey not a Sprint.

To Find Content

You want to get content about your city, about certain topics is your content service. It enables people to publish newspapers based on topics they like and treat their readers to fresh news, daily. believes people are the ones qualified to organise and oversee the content that matters most.

Bitly a URL shortening service. You can go to website and type any URL and creates a mapping to a much shortened URL of the form which is a simple HTML redirector to the actual website.
In addition to its main URL shortening service, the website provides tools to view statistics related to users that click on generated links.

To Spread Your Hotel Social Network Account


The Live Stream Toolbar by Visibli is designed to appear at the top of the browser window ( Mine is the red one a the top of your screen) whenever a user clicks an external link from your website – this has been shown to result in an increase in user retention from external links by 25%-40%.

The Toolbar leverages the Echo Stream Client to display real-time updates from a Publisher to further catch users attention and continue to show them the vibrant activity on your site even when they navigate off-site. It is also a Twitter client. HootSuite is competing in a marketplace for social media dashboard tools or platforms, where marketers are focused on social media management for their clients’ web engagement activities.

When you are working on Social networks you can usually give permission to certain applications to connect to your Hotel account to perform certain actions. Messages on your Facebook wall, on your Twitter feed, using your data from LinkedIn … This is often temporary uses for the service. But these permissions remain active and accumulate over time.
Do you really want to give free access to your accounts on forever with third party applications? Logically not. Especially since this is the period of good resolutions. To help you in your quest for cleaning, This site offers access permissions with one click settings-sharing social networks.

To Backup Messages


Twimemachine will pull your older tweets into a single web page for you. Starting with the most recent and displaying them in reverse chronological order.

Twimemachine doesn’t do much other than this, and it is restricted to 3,200 tweets as per Twitter’s restricted API access. However, it is a fantastic way to quickly view all of your old tweets in one place.
